CBD Tolerance And Cannabinoid Cycling: Here’s What You Need To Know

Written by Corre Addam

Whilst many people have tolerance issues with THC, those who use CBD regularly could also benefit greatly from taking a break or simply doing some clever cannabinoid cycling

For those who take medical cannabis or CBD regularly, to help alleviate pain and other symptoms, building up tolerance is always an issue. But if you have the right info to hand you should be able to prevent building tolerance, and keep taking your medication without issues.

It stands to reason that too much of anything is not good, and that also applies to natural medicine such as cannabis. When THC receptors located in the body get too much THC, they develop a tolerance, and even raising the dose won’t necessarily help. The good news is that the tolerance build up is only temporary, and a simple 48 “T-Break” should have you back to where you started. But introducing cannabinoid cycling could be just the ticket.

There are a few options you can choose if you want to keep your tolerance in check. Firstly, you could always just take a complete break for a few days. Those days might be a little rough, but if you can handle it, it’s well worth it in the long run. Then, there’s the cannabinoid cycling, whereby you can switch out a high-THC strain for a high-CBD strain, and vice versa. That way, you are able to sort of trick your cannabis receptors, and avoid building up too much tolerance.

The thing to bear in mind though, is the fact that both THC and CBD have medicinal effects for different people as well as for different conditions. Switching strains or favoring one compound over another is similar to trying a new medication, as your system isn’t expecting the new cannabinoid. It’s like a type of “hard reset” that will get you back in no time to where you want to be.

These cannabinoid receptors, located throughout the body and in the organs, have an effect on the endocannabinoid system in humans. If your ES is in check, your body will be performing at its optimum potential, and keeping you healthy and full of energy. The ES regulates things like mood, immune function, and metabolism.

The reality is though that THC and CBD compliment each other perfectly. When endocannabinoid system is running overtime, the right dose of CBD calms things down. This means that both THC and CBD can be taken separately or together, depending on symptoms.
