Advice For Daily Medical Cannabis Patients Who Want To Stay Productive

Written by Corre Addam

For patients who need to take medical cannabis daily to manage their symptoms, feeling ‘stoned’ all the time can have its down sides…

Even though cannabis doesn’t debilitate you half as much as many of the prescription medications given out by family doctors, it can make you tired and lethargic. However, it’s a small price to pay for most people who are just thrilled to be off the addictive meds with all those nasty side effects, and treating their condition with something holistic and natural.

But there are steps that one can take to minimize the lethargy and ensure that they remain an active and productive member of society.

Firstly, you need to get your strains in check and educate yourself about which are the best for daily use and the best for nightly use. Sativa strains are more uplifting, and some would even claim energizing, while Indicas are usually heavier, denser buds, which give a more deeply stoned, tired effect. There are also hybrids which are a cross of sativa and indica strains blended together for a mixed experience.

The next factor to consider is the amount of cannabis you take, be it by smoking, vaping or via edibles. It stands to reason that the more medicine you take, the more affected you will be, and that also applies to cannabis. As such, it’s best to do your own testing in terms of the right dose for you, in order to make sure you don’t overdo it, especially before that important business meeting.

Another thing to consider is vaping instead of smoking. Many people who vaporize their cannabis swear that they are way more productive than when they smoked it. This has something to do with the fact that no combustion takes place when vaping, and therefore the full profile of the terpenes and active cannabis compounds are slightly less. Coupled with the fact that there’s no smoke and therefore no toxins which come from smoke, vaping is certainly a good option if you want to stay productive.

The final factor for today which should be taken into account is the way you store your cannabis. You may not know that incorrect storage, namely leaving cannabis in a bag in direct sunlight, actually degrades the THC content in the buds over time, converting it to CBN which is known to make people lethargic and tired. To keep your cannabis fresh and fruity, make sure you store it in a mason or pickling glass jar, in a cool place and out of the light.

If you follow these steps, there’s no doubt that you’ll become more productive and active in your day-to-day life, without second guessing whether or not your medicine is making you too tired to perform.
