Is it Legal to Send CBD by Mail?

Written by Julie Godard

When it comes to things like CBD where laws are not always consistent, it brings up many questions, one of which is whether it is actually legal to send CBD in the mail.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol or “CBD” is an oil that comes from the cannabis plant and can be found for sale in many forms including the plain oil, capsules, lotions, and so on. Many CBD products also contain a combination of other beneficial cannabinoids. CBD oil is known not to produce a “high” in those who use it, and is often considered a useful medical treatment  by many physicians, patients, and anyone for whom traditional allopathic medicines or treatments do not work.

What is CBD Used For?

CBD has recently enjoyed a resurgence in mainstream life with changes in legalization and the ability for research to be done leading the way for CBD to be used as a primary medical treatment for many different illnesses. The following are medical conditions that CBD may help with:

What are the Side Effects of CBD?

CBD, although it won’t make you high, does have side effects in some people, including tiredness, diarrhea, and changes in appetite or weight. When compared to pharmaceuticals, however, these side effects are much less severe.

Is CBD Legal?

Yes. CBD oil is derived from the hemp plant, which is very low in THC. CBD is non-psychoactive, and does not get you “high” like cannabis products with large amounts of THC in them. CBD is legal in at least 42 countries, and many different states and provinces as well. CBD is often prescribed by qualified doctors and other healthcare professionals for symptoms and pain brought on by poor health, and other medical issues. CBD is also legal in almost every U.S. state today. This is due to the hard work of activists and supporters, and to the voters who have voted to make CBD available for anyone who needs it.

Can I Mail-order CBD?

Ordering CBD through the mail is the most popular way to purchase CBD in most countries in the world. Keep in mind that, although many countries consider CBD medicine, there are some that may confiscate it if they find it. Each country has its own laws, and you should always review these before ordering CBD from another country. Keeping that in mind, mail-order is an excellent way to purchase CBD in various forms if you can’t simply walk into a medical cannabis store and purchase it. CBD can be purchased as Sativex in Europe, as well.

Where is CBD Illegal?

The legality of CBD has been in limbo in many countries for a long time — inevitably, CBD is connected to marijuana, which many people associate with “getting high” and irresponsibility in general. This view is ridiculous and outdated, however, and many governments are now realizing that there are benefits to prescribing CBD that can help with many different symptoms and issues, without getting patients high. If you’re ordering CBD through the mail, there is usually no need to worry, but just to be safe, check with your local government. CBD is made from hemp, which is not the same as marijuana, so it is legal in more places. CBD is now legal in Europe.

  • How to sensibly buy LEGAL cbd oil? Because I got a letter saying customs has confiscated my package two times already and I’m pissed.
