What Are You Really Getting When You Buy Cbd Oil on Amazon?

What exactly is Amazon CBD Oil?
Written by Alexandra Hicks

The Amazon marketplace is an absolute powerhouse, changing the way people all over the world do their shopping and forcing other companies to adjust to their way of doing business.

That said, it makes sense that Amazon would take a swing at the CBD market, considering its sizable and consistent growth. But what exactly are you getting when you buy “CBD oil” or “Hemp oil” from Amazon? Is it the same thing you’d find in a medical cannabis dispensary or from an established company that specializes in CBD products?

With CBD use is increasing all over the world, it’s no surprise that dozens of Amazon vendors are throwing their products into the loop. While having options is great, the most important thing to remember as a consumer is that quality matters most. You need to pick a product that’s safe, effective, and preferably lab tested. This is your health we’re talking about!

What Amazon is Selling as CBD Oil or Hemp Oil?

As it turns out, Amazon CBD oil is anything, but CBD oil...

As it turns out, Amazon CBD oil is anything, but CBD oil…

Run a quick search for “CBD Oil” on Amazon and you’ll be drowning in results. However, one thing that becomes painfully evident upon further investigation, is that none of these products actually contain any CBD whatsoever, even though they’re being marketed as CBD oils. As a matter of fact, the primary ingredient in the majority of these oils is hemp seed oil.

Hemp seeds are extremely nutritious and beneficial, rich in healthy fats such as Omega-3 and Omega-6 acids. They are also loaded with protein, and are considered a good source of vitamin E, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, magnesium, sulfur, calcium, iron and zinc. But they are not the same thing as CBD and should not be marketed as such.

Amazon CBD Oil? Amazon prohibits the sale of CBD…

Amazon actually happens to be very adamantly against selling CBD on their site, since the laws surrounding it are still a bit murky. Since Amazon prohibits the sale of CBD oil, could it be that people are selling CBD products behind the back of the company, or they sell something completely different?

It’s reasonable to believe that you still might find good CBD products sold on Amazon, but it is more likely to assume that most “CBD oil” being sold on there is, in fact, not CBD oil at all, but hemp seeds oil. Healthy, but not the same…

So What Are People Saying?

Keep in mind that we haven’t actually tested out any of Amazon’s CBD products ourselves, since they don’t actually contain any CBD. They could be good help oil products, but again, they’re not CBD. When looking through customer reviews though, plenty of people were dissatisfied with their purchases. Here’s what they had to say:

  • Amazon CBD oil is most likely hemp seeds oil, as Amazon is against selling CBD oil products

Amazon CBD oil is most likely hemp seeds oil, as Amazon is against selling CBD oil products

“Beware! This product has for the first ingredient grape seed oil, in my book that’s not 99.9 percent pure [hemp oil]. they fool you with the advertising. I won’t order this again.”

  • “This is a SCAM!! This is hemp oil and grape seed oil.. grape seed is the number 1 ingredient!! Hemp oil is $9.00 for 16oz at any us health food store and DOES NOT CONTAIN CBD OIL OR THE BENEFITS OF CBD !!”
  • “I knew when I ordered this that there is no way it could be real so I was prepared to get what I got I think it’s basically water with a little peppermint taste because believe me I’m no doctor but I have tried 20 or more different ones I knew this one had to be too good to be true but I had to prove it to myself”

The list of negative commentary goes on and on. It’s worth noting that there are many good reviews on these products as well, but those are from people who were well aware that they were ordering hemp seeds oil, not CBD oil.

Final Thoughts

To quickly summarize, it appears there shouldn’t be no real CBD oils for sale on Amazon, only hemp seed oils. If you want to get high-quality CBD oil, you’ll have to buy it from a legitimate online retailer that’s well-reviewed and provides recent lab tests on their products. One that is CBD Testers Verified…
