Exploring Raw Cannabinoids: What is CBDa and What Can it Do For You?

Simplified, CBDa (cannabidiolic acid) is CBD’s precursor. It’s found on the stems, leaves and flowers of certain strains of raw cannabis before any type of heat is applied. In fresh plants – as in, not dried, cured, or heated – the compounds and cannabinoids are found as acids. Heat will break down the CBDa in a process called decarboxylation, when it loses its carboxyl acid group.

New York Governor Signs Historic Bill Decriminalizing Possession of Cannabis

As Cuomo explained after signing legislation S.6579A/A.8420, making cannabis possession no longer a criminal offense and expunging some cannabis convicts, “Communities of color have been disproportionately impacted by laws governing marijuana for far too long, and today we are ending this injustice once and for all.” As of August 28th, the penalty for cannabis possession has been reduced to a fine of $50 to $200 depending on the amount.
