In one week we celebrate fourth of July and the hard-fought independence of our nation, and what better way to ring the holiday than with some festive, cookout-friendly cannabis products; from an industry that also had to fight and claw for its own rights.

Although it’s starting to become increasingly mainstream and “normal”, for decades cannabis has been tightly linked with rebellion, and still is in many regions and cultures. That rebellious spirit is how American came to be one of the most free and independent nations on earth. But a quick bit of history first. cannabis cookout

Traditionally, we celebrate Independence Day on the 4th of July. Most believe to be the day the declaration of independence was signed, but that actually happened on July 2, 1776. Two days later, on the 4th, Congress approved the final text of the Declaration, meaning our independence was made official on that day. Fun fact, the declaration wasn’t signed until August 2nd of that year, but at that point it was just a formality.

As the saying goes, rebels rebel because they must and people will only endure injustice for so long. It’s at the heart of the American spirit and it’s also what spurred the modern-day cannabis movement. If it wasn’t for people saying “f*** that”, and taking marijuana matters into their own hands, the industry would be nonexistent today. Even now, cannabis is still federally illegal and but the market continues to grow and thrive, because when Americans are tired of something, we make changes happen.

In my opinion, the best way connect with family and friends and truly celebrate the fourth is with some good food and amazing weed (sometimes combined). Check out this short list of fun cannabis products that everyone at the cookout can enjoy.

Jeeters Infused Pre-Rolled Joints

A good, solid joint is great for any backyard event or kickback. The name “Jeeter” started off as a slang term that was used as an alternative name for a joint. Like pass the doobie, pass the jay, and pass the Jeeter, which eventually became common stoner slang. Fast forward about 10 years and now Jeeters are among the most popular products in the legal cannabis market.

Jeeters are 1 gram pre-rolls that are coated in potent distillated and dusted in kief. They come in numerous different flavors and sizes (baby jeets are 0.5 grams each and XL jeeters are 2 grams). The regular Jeeters have a burn time of almost 20 minutes (double that for the XLs) and due to their potency and incredible taste, they are the absolute perfect party favor for anyone who enjoys weed.

Mellow Ice Cream Infused with THC or CBD

Now this is a company that does things right. They make incredible ice cream out of the finest ingredients, infuse it with cannabinoids, and give you a choice of THC or CBD. In July, it’s already hot in pretty much every state in the country. Ice cream is the perfect summer treat for both kids and adults, and if your kids are like mine and want to eat everything I’m eating, Mellow Ice Cream even makes some non-infused varieties, for anyone who doesn’t want or can’t have cannabinoids.

The ice cream comes in a small, Ben and Jerry’s-style container and you have your choice of three different flavors: Himalayan sea salted caramel, mint chocolate chip, and Tahitian vanilla peanut butter cup. They are reasonably priced, especially considering they are made with all-natural ingredients, and company has already been featured in numerous different publications including High Times and Forbes.

Humboldt Brewing Company Red Nectar Infused Ale

A cookout is not complete without beer, but this year, let’s throw some cannabis into the mix. Humboldt Brewing Company is one of the first craft breweries to use hemp as an ingredient in commercially produced beer. They’ve been around since 1987 and by 1999, their Hemp Ale won a gold medal at California’s State Fair Craft Brewing Competition. To this day, it remains one of the most popular brands for hemp-infused beers available in the country.

Their most popular product is the Red Nectar Pale Ale. It’s a hoppy, red ale that contains an interesting blend of tropical fruits, bitter hops, and a hint of caramel malt. It’s created from a base of Marris Otter, Crisp and Rahr Malts. Dry hopped using Mt. Hood, Columbus, Cascade and Willamette They also offer a Smokey Hazy Hemp IPA, a golden smoked hemp ale with beechwood and pearl malts, hemp seeds and flaked oats.

Ganja Juice Cannabis Infused BBQ Sauce

It’s really not even a cookout without some delicious barbeque, and when it comes to grilling, the sauce makes all the difference. Ganja Juice Cannabis Infused BBQ Sauce is perfect for any grilled meat and has a great blend of sweet and savory flavors. Every bottle is 200 mL in size and contains 500 milligrams of THC, or about 14 milligrams per serving.

This one is only sold at certain dispensaries, so you can use a product finder like Weedmaps to search your area (if you’re lucky enough to live in a legal market), and see if it’s available near you. If it’s not, another option is to buy some cannabis honey, mix it with a store bought or homemade sauce, and you can have your very own infused honey barbeque sauce.

Kickback CBD Infused Lemonades

Every cookout needs some refreshing, and lemonade is a common go-to. This California-based company is one of the first to launch a product line of healthy, CBD-infused lemonades. Lemonade flavors: strawberry sunshine, lemony lemon, mellow mango. All Kickback products contain hemp derived, nano broad spectrum hemp extract. Our hemp extract is 5 to 10 times stronger. All Kickback products are vegan. We don’t use any ingredients derived from animals. Also low in sugar and gluten free. They also sell tea, coffee, and variety bundles.

Potli Extra Lit Hemp Infused Shrimp Chips

Every cookout needs snacks, and of course, cannabis-infused snacks are always the best. I know it sounds weird but hear me out, these Spicy Shrimp Chips are the bomb! Created by Potli, each chip is dusted with Potli’s signature Mala Spice blend with Sichuan peppercorn. They’re spicy, savory, loaded with umami flavor, and infused with hemp extract! It doesn’t get much better than that.

Umami is one of the five basic tastes (sweet, salty, bitter, sour, and umami) and is best described as a savory or “meaty” flavor. Umami is a flavor we’re always chasing—and one we’re so often looking to add to our cooking, so adding it to chips makes the perfect snack for any backyard barbecue.
