Despite how popular CBD has become over the last few years, there remains some confusion over what the best uses for CBD are.

CBD products are now legal throughout the U.S. and there is even an FDA approved drug that uses this cannabinoid. However, some of the ways it can help people are still not common knowledge, and we aim to change that! Below we’ll discuss a few of the most common and beneficial uses for CBD and how it can help people find relief for a variety of different conditions.

1. Anxiety and Depression

CBD can help people suffering from anxiety and depression

Studies show that CBD targets cell receptors in the body that regulate your mood. What’s often discovered in people who suffer from anxiety or depression is that their bodies don’t produce a normal amount of endocannabinoids. CBD can help treat both of these – and many other mental health issues – without any dangerous side effects.

2. Pain Management

Since the dawn of time, cannabis has been used to manage pain. Now there are official studies proving the effectiveness of CBD for doing just that. Chronic pain affects about 100 million people in the United States alone, and 1.5 billion worldwide. Standard treatments for pain often include some type of opioid drug, but considering the current epidemic in the U.S., that’s not a viable option. CBD can help with pain and there is no risk of addiction or overdose.

3. Inflammation

CBD can reduce inflammation and keep people from needing NSAIDs

CBD is a known anti-inflammatory. Inflammation is the root cause of many ailments including arthritis, contact dermatitis, acne, multiple sclerosis, and type 1 diabetes. A lot of athletes swear by it because it keeps them from needing over-the-counter NSAIDs like Ibuprofen and Aleve. Overuse of NSAIDs can lead to various health problems such as heartburn, stomach pain and ulcers, headaches, dizziness, and even damage to the kidneys and liver. CBD has none of these side effects.

4. Manage Seizures

One of the first modern medical uses for CBD was to treat epilepsy and other types of seizures, and there are many studies out there proving its value for these types of disorders. There is even an FDA approved CBD medication – the first one ever – that is used to treat epilepsy: Epidiolex. Because CBD decreases glutamate release, it can decrease all types of seizures, including rare childhood forms and focal seizures.

5. Addiction (smoking, alcohol, opioids, etc.)

CBD has been shown to help people suffering from cigarette, alcohol, and opioid addiction

According to recent research, CBD can help people kick their addictions to various substances. Over the years, multiple studies have been published outlining how CBD can do wonders for those who are hooked on cigarettes, alcohol, and/or opioids. Habitual use of these substances is not only dangerous to the individual, but there are major societal repercussions as well.
